College ministry leaders spend far too much of their valuable time processing through challenges on their own. Add to this that quality resources specific to college ministry are limited and difficult to find and you’ve got a real problem. Many of the ministry leaders we talk to feel like they have to start from scratch when launching something for Millennials. Rather than waiting for dozens of so-called college ministry ‘experts’ to emerge, what if existing leaders collaborated more often and with greater intentionality? This idea is the heart behind the collaborative model that we so passionately believe in. We believe it’s one of those BIG IDEAS that has the potential to revolutionize how we reach and disciple college students.
The collaborative model is expressed in 4 distinct ways:
- A significant portion of funds generated through sponsors and subscribers will be used to strengthen existing college ministries and plant new ones in areas where they are desperately needed. In other words, our pooled financial resources mean more college students reached with the Gospel. It means we work together to decide when, where, and through him these new efforts take place.
- For our subscribers, our ‘Collaborators Forum’ is accessible 24/7. This unique online community is designed to problem solve and share best practices with leaders from all over the country and world. Odds are good that the challenges you’re currently facing could use some outside input from your contemporaries who ministry in a very similar context. Or perhaps it’s something incredibly practical and immediate. A campus minister in New Jersey may have the perfect solution for a problem faced by a college pastor in Denver. The ‘Collaborators Forum’ provides the setting for us to hear each others’ needs and respond appropriately.
- As the CollegeMinistry.com community grows in the coming months and years, we will be inviting those interested to come together with others they might not normally interact with or even know about. For example, if we have 20 subscribers from Oregon (who may or may not be aware of each other), CollegeMinistry.com could e-mail those 20 and see how many are interested in meeting together with an official contributor to learn from each other.
- Although our official contributors will be adding content on a weekly basis, we invite those with active subscriptions to add to our storehouse of resources and tools. Click ‘Become a Partner’ under the ‘Let’s Collaborate’ for more information. We all have content that’s just gathering dust on our hard drives. Why not put it to work by sharing it with others? Content you can submit includes but is not limited to: messages, small group studies, devotionals for students, blog posts, series graphics, retreat content, and ideas for outreach and social events. Content submitted may or may not be offered in our Resource Store.
Let’s collaborate!
